Just spotted it on the PS Store.

Welcome to Intex Systems... :D

It's not the recent re-imaginings, but the original Amiga game re-released. It has an enhanced and classic mode with both the original and SE version plus a number of other levels. I've currently got it in classic mode with the original music blasting from the TV :)

The sound effects are straight out of the Amiga as well.

No, they seem to have removed the Intex systems terminals for some reason and you get to the shop via the start button :( Other than that in classic mode its faithful to the Amiga version.

I much preferred the Amiga version to the new one they did a few years ago. Might have to check this out. Now all we need is for the Bitmap Brothers to get their stuff up. :D

Speedball II was available for a while on XBox Live Arcade, I bought it at the time. Its no longer available to buy. I had hoped that they would release The Chaos Engine, but I doubt that will ever happen now. I do hope this is the first of the Team 17 Amiga re-releases and that we will see Project-X and Superfrog :D

Did Team 17 do Chaos Engine too? I can't recall but I loved that game.
The reason I ask is that a Team 17 rep was recently talking about Alien Breed release and reading between the lines of what he was writing it seemed to suggest they are working on others too.

Regarding Alien Breed I unfortunately bought the PS Mobile on on Vita 3-4 months ago but I've bought this PS3/Vita version anyway last night as it's cross-buy plus I mate bought it too so we can 2 player it up. Just like me and my brother / Dad back in the Amiga days.

I was also gutted about removing the computer terminal though that was awesome. The little noise it made every time it loaded up and you could buy the next weapon which was sweet.

Any idea how in the hell you get the map screen up?
I was trying it on Vita last night and I pressed everything and nothing happened. There is a very small map icon in top right so I assume touch screen would open it but it did not

It was the Bitmap Brothers that created The Chaos Engine along with Speedball II, Magic Pockets, Gods, Xenon II etc. Its a shame more of their games didnt make it onto the arcade.

Had great fun playing Alien Breed last night, brought back a load of memories. Its amazing how good the Amiga music and sound effects still are in "classic mode". I prefer playing it in classic over enhanced mode. No idea on the map, i noticed it as well and tried every button on the PS3 controller without success.

The Chaos Engine with its two player gameplay would be perfect for an XBLA/PSN title. Node activated!

Speedball II is on the PSN as a Mini which I grabbed as a freebie on plus I think. It's on my list anyway but I never purchased it so I assume it was with Plus at some point.
Xenon II was a big favorite of mine so i'd love to play that again. I can still recall that sound when you went into the shop screen.

I always liked Gods too but don't think I could ever get that far on it.

Would deff love to see more of these old classics as little PSN titles as as old as they are many of them still play really well even today.

Alien Breed is sitting on my bag at work and I want to get it out to play but unfortunately have to study more boring thermal expansion and temperature coefficients for an assignment next week. Suppose i'm at least doing it in work time and can then game in my own time later!
