Alien Vs Predator-Requiem

I thought the first AvP was pretty good!

I'm not sure about this one as It looks a bit predictable. I feel I have seen the movie just by watching the trailer, theres no mystery! Heres the script:

People in a small town notice strange animals in the woods. People start to die and before you know it Aliens (and predators) are overrunning all over town and killing people. A band of good looking survivors and a female with attitude get together and try to survive this nightmare.

Meanwhile the military aren't interested in helping out the survivors but instead want to nuke it from orbit. Cue the survivors getting killed off one by one as they get out of town with the added danger of getting out before the nuke hits. The good looking man and the good looking women make it out with a child or two because they couldn't possibly let a young defenseless child get ripped apart by an alien.

In closing the nuke goes off and just as the credits roll we see that shock-horror a lone alien has escaped the blast!

Tell me I'm wrong! :p

I wish I could! That trailer made me think of another Scream movie :(

Lets be honest it can't be any worse than AvP from that idiot Anderson! This atleast looks gory with decent action :] Fingers crossed!

The predator in this film looks like he means business lol. He looks like hes killing un-armed civies aswell. love the bit where the women gets pinned up to the wall with the pred disc and where he blows the two guys heads off with his double cannon. cant wait for this film

Watched it yesterday, and i stand by my original statement of "it doesnt sit right with me"

I got a fair few laughs. 15 rated gore. bit meh tbh.

Looks like a good film as long as you aren't either an Aliens universe buff or a fan of the first Predator movie.

Predator and Aliens are two of my favourite films and probably most watched and I liked AvP2 :)

I'm not a Aliens universe buff though, but it comepletly wipes the floor with the first film.

I swear just using the suspense like 'tapadatapadatapada' style drums for the Predator scenes made it 50% better ;)

just back from this and as a pure action movie it was frackin awesome, lots of deaths lots of blood an awesome ending. worth it imo :D

An action movie maybe - but I understand from a trusted source it doesn't do the Alien franchise any justice ;)

I refrained from going on Sat after hearing too much bad press! Would appear the film warranted the harsh criticism.

Ill go this week and put my Cineworld unlimited card to good use, I know it'll be poor but i'll still enjoy it on some level. :D

it's not that bad much better than the first and is exactly what i expected it to be. aliens fighting predators with with humans getting killed in the way :p

anyone who expected any more from it is crazy. :D

Not seen this yet. The first movie was crap, but it looks like this one doesn't hold back quite as much and has a (slightly) better story.

I don't really care how it turns out so long as it spawns a decent AvP3 game at some point :p

Went to see if last night, it was rubbish, linear and completely predictable.

Acting was terrible as well, as far as I'm concerned there are only two "Alien" films:-

Alien
Aliens

everything else was just fodder, honestly don't bother!

I would have to agree here mate, although the original Predator film was the best the second one was pretty good too.

Did anyone else who watched notice how many scenes where very similar to scenes in Aliens, the woman driving the APC mirrored Ripley driving into the colony complex to rescue the marines.

The little girl calling the step mother "mummy" at the end and asking about "if all the monster have gone"

There were just so many scenes like this not to forget AVPR's very own nuke it from orbit scene!!!!

Heres my review for anyone interested -

Venue: AMC Cinema Broadway Plaza

Date: 18/01/2008

Being a major comic book nerd, I was absolutely ecstatic when I heard that the directors were taking the movies back to the comic books. To say I was excited to go and see this movie, would have been an understatement. How disappointed I was when I saw the final product on Friday.

When thinking about Ridley Scotts "Alien", one can automatically associate the movie with the feeling of sheer terror as the hapless Lieutenant Ripleys(Sigourney) shipmates are slaughtered. Likewise when watching the first Predator movie. You can empathise with Dutch(Arnie) as his rescue-unit of hardcore gun toting marines gets wiped out one by one by the deadliest hunter man has ever faced.

Why is it then that the same formula could not be applied to this movie?? What on earth did the Strauss Brothers think they were doing?? With the exception of Alien 3 which was dire, since when does a "love interest" storyline come into play in any of the Alien or Predator movies??? They may as well have just turned this into a teen slasher movie with the Aliens and Predator playing just a cameo role. This movie was just an immoral gorefest. Immoral being the operative word when witnessing such scenes as the maternity ward.

Anyone would have thought that the directors could have at least got the fight scenes between the aliens and predator right, but I guess that would just be wishful thinking. Most of the combat sequences were too dark so you could hardly tell what was going on. The big final fight between the cross breed and the "cleaner" predator should have been the saving grace for the movie but instead was an atrocity of monolithic proportions.

This movie is possibly the biggest dishonour anyone could have done to the deadliest prey (the alien) and the deadliest hunter (the predator).

RIP Alien and Predator, you guys deserved so much more.

These AvP films just wind me up really. Just THINK how many AWESOME sequels they could have done to Alien and Aliens?

James Cameron actually had a script ready for a sequel to Aliens. He was going to start from where Aliens left off and pretend that Alien3 and Alien Ressurection didn't happen.

Likewise with Predator. They could have done some excellent sequels to that. It just needs some imaginative writers that's all.

AvP is an abomination IMO and has completely destroyed two of the best Sci-Fi universes ever made.

The bucks they are making from these AvP movies pales in comparison to what they COULD have made from some decent Alien (and Predator) sequels backed by Hollywood's finest directors.

Actually, James Cameron was about to start work on the script with Ridley Scott, but quickly scrapped it and his ideas when the first AvP was announced. Reckoning that it would kill the credibility of the franchise. I guess he was sort of right.

He saw the first AvP though, and apparently though it was really good. He said out of all 5 Alien movies to that point, that AvP would come 3rd, in his opinion.

They shouldn't have bothered IMO and I won't be seeing AvP2.

This movie was SOOOO damn bad
I cant believe I paid 6 quid to watch this crap!

Story wasnt intresting, acting was crap only had one hot woman that babe from 24, the camera angles were crap you couldnt see whats happaning half the time and its ALWAYS dark you cannnot see anything

Waste of time, 4/10 imo

Agreed, the "dark" filming and the constant "rain" just made it impossible to see what exactly was going on, now in other "Alien" films this was used to add atmosphere or in terms of "Aliens" was because the planet was being terraformed.

There were a couple of interesting bits at the end where the Miss Yutani was given the Predator weapon etc. Obviously the Weyland-Yutani Corporation is the company that runs through all the Aliens films.
