Alien Vs Predator-Requiem

how do you work that one out? Just because you obviously dont like it doesnt mean Im going to follow you.

You dont have to.

Now no offense, but even those with the slightest (and this is going to sound sooooooooo geeky) grasp of Alien/Aliens/Predator lore laughs this garbage off the screen, while inside they cry silent tears as two of the potentially greatest movie franchises ever greated are murdered in a thoughtless money grabbing gorefest.

I've read just about ever book going... so in your own patronising way you could say I have the "slightest grasp of Aliens/Predator lore" and I still I found it entertaining. Sure... if James Cameron or someone similarly telented had directed it it would have been 1000x better, but then again it would have been a completely different genre of film almost due to Camerons gift for making epic films. However I enjoyed it all the same and was expecting much worse when I went.

Saw this xmas day in Canada...what a pile of steaming dog poo it was...seriously the first one was much much better than this pile of rubbish. I was hoping for more one on one action between the Predator and Predalien hybrid...but instead they concentrate more on the freakin human side. The nuking of the town was possibly the most stupidest ending i have ever seen in my life:p...seriously if it was up to me i wouldnt have bothered releasing such rubbish in the cinema.,..it would have went straight to dvd...

I seriously recommend that people wait for it on dvd to watch it...it really wasnt that great. Even my friends in Canada thought it was utterly terrible.

Its a terrible film dude, you could have got away with just saying nothing more on the subject and no one would have thought any worse of you.

Now you cant get away with saying you were drunk, on drugs, forced to write your first post at gunpoint, you have to go down the line that you actually liked the film while everyone else tears that opinion to shreds.
:(

If my MUM had made the film it would have been a 1000 times better, its not just that its a rubbish story, its not just that its poorly acted, badly directed, poorly cast, ill conceived and with poor special effects, Its the fact that have taken they have taken subject matter which has "huge hit" tattooed on it in big gold letters and managed to completely drop the ball on how to make a good movie out of it.

You've read every book going, you can name at least two graphic novels/ novellas dedicated to an AVP storyline that would have been a whole heap load better than this.

lol I can assure you that the opinions of a few nameless forumites have never and never will mean anything more to me than an amusing read... if I say I enjoyed the film for what it was then not only do I stand by the comment, but I will tell all and sundry, i'm quite secure like that. I fully went into this film expecting to think it was utter pap, as i'm generally of a harsh crtitic as I said earlier. However this film was most definately an exception to my rule, I enjoyed it.

is it worth watching the first AvP before seeing this one ?

its not really necessary as Requiem is basically a stand alone film, personally i found AvP quite poor but others i know seem to enjoy it.

if you like your Alien or Predator stuff then its defo worth seeing, just dont expect it to win any Oscars and you wont be dissapointed and ignore some of the more anal comments in this thread.

I liked it, much better than the first, not a great film but still very watchable.

Predator > Aliens > Alien > Predator 2 > Alien 3 > AvP:R > Alien Resurrection > AvP imo :)

Just got back from watching it this afternoon. I thought it was pretty good considering, then again I've always rated Aliens as the best of the lot and this felt a lot more like that than the other films.

Definitely better than the first AvP though which was a load of drivel.

Aliens> Predator 2> AVPR> Alien 3> Predator> AVP> Alien> Alien Resurrection

Rubbish film. Black blob vs black blob.
Script / story rubbish.
Only saving graces were a few of the fight scenes and the fit blonde. Not a patch on either the original predator or original aliens etc.

this is really sad news, Rumor was that Ridley Scott and James Cameron were going to do a Alien 5 (they had scripts written) how good would that have been?

AVP Killed Alien 5
Cameron and Scott had another sequel on the drawing-board.
by Paul Davidson

US, February 8, 2006 - Filmmaker James Cameron has spoken candidly for the first time about his involvement on Alien 5 – a potential sequel to the Alien series that still seemed like a possibility last spring.

Both Ridley Scott, who created the first Alien, and Cameron, responsible for the second, had expressed interest in continuing the series. So what went wrong? In an interview with AICN, Cameron explains that it was 20th Century Fox's bright idea for an Alien-Predator crossover film that soured his interest in making Alien 5. In fact, he abandoned the work he'd already begun on it when he heard about AVP.

"Ridley [Scott] and I talked about doing another Alien film, and I said to 20th Century Fox that I would develop a 5th Alien film. I started working on a story, I was working with another writer and Fox came back to me and said, 'We've got this really good script for Alien vs Predator,' and I got pretty upset. I said, 'You do that you're going to kill the validity of the franchise in my mind,' because to me, that was Frankenstein Meets Werewolf. It was Universal just taking their assets and starting to play them off against each other.

"So, I stopped work. Then I saw Alien vs Predator and it was actually pretty good. (laughs) I think of the 5 [sic] Alien films, I'd rate it 3rd."

Unfortunately, Cameron's positive opinion of AVP hasn't changed his mind. He says he sees now that Alien is Fox's "asset", not his. Putting up with another studio's ideas of how to steer a franchise is something Cameron has grown tired of.

In the meantime, Cameron has other projects like Project 880/Avatar on the go — which he promised to reveal more about soon. For now, however: no more Alien movies.

Why have fox done this whyyyyyyyyyyyy!

I liked this movie, I have always been a big fan of the Alien stories, and enjoyed the Preditor films too, the link between the two species in AvP was interesting, I liked that the preditors bred the Alien for sport deal, but the ending of the first AvP was bad, that woman should not have survied, and what was with the shield/spear LOL, that bit kills me...

Anyhoo, AvP2 was good and bad in several ways...
The Bad:
The fact Only one Preditor came to earth to check out the crash... Was expecting more.
The way the chest bursters (just as in AvP) came out way too early, in the Alien movies they take a good few hours before bursting were as the first two victims burst straight after comming too.
The whole storyline felt far too rushed.
The helicopter crash at the end... reminded me of Resident Evil too much.

The Good:
Lots of Aliens and face huggers/chest bursters.
Lots of Preditor hardman scenes and tech, I loved the sewer scene when he plants the laser mine's.
I liked the fact that All charachters were fodder, surprise victims such as the blonde, was not expecting that!

In all, as an Alien fan, not a great film, as a preditor fan and general Gore whore... a great flick to watch.
