wow what a shocker! That looks very bloody and scary just like how these films were designed to be.

You seem to forget this is actually exactly what a government would do in this situation.
All in all the trailor looked good, and the film cannot possibly be any worse than the first one. Looking in good shape to me.
Anyone notice the Alien/Predator hybrid also?

cant wait i was dissapointed by the original avp movie seeing as the i loved the AVP games.
And thanks god this time some Elite predators are in the movie instead of the young ones in the original. cant wait for the bad ass weaponary. spotted the dual shoulder cannons aswell i cant wait.

When are we going to see something along the lines of Earth Hive? Big alien Earth invasion killing everyone, or at least until those giant elephant looking things (spaceship on LB426, Alines) turn up and kill the xenos - then the elephant things harvest the Earth for all its worth.

Is this one supposed to fit into the same timeline as Alien/Aliens etc?
Yeah I read those series of books recently, not too bad. Infact it that it describes how they panic and end up nuking the earth IIRC. How they thought they could contain them and end up finding hives appearing all over the planet.
I've been well into the books (earth hive, nightmare asylum, music of the spears, rogue et cetera) since they came out and the Dark Horse comics too...99% of them merge well.
(Then you have stuff like Aliens vs. Batman...)
And I have to admit that I enjoyed AVP...Yes, it could have gone into the backstory a bit more...How the Yautja come to be, the culture, the fear of 'oomans.

Which book/comic series is that back story in?
I've read the Hive series of 3 books. Any others that are a decent read or you recommend?
I bought Original sin recently which follows on from ressurection its not very good.
Alien(s) and Predator fans can't really avoid seeing these sort of films despite how rubbish they are. It's annoying because you'll go and see them hoping it might just be good and then end up spending the whole time ignoring all the crap bits (whether it's effects, script, or acting). Thing is by the end of the film you know there have been far too many crap moments to make it even remotley good.
I'd say the first AvP movie was a tad better than Terminator 3 (which was absoloute crap). The only hope this new one has is that it's set in the jungle and it has a new director.

Sorry - should have been more clear. The predator back story as laid out in AVP Prey and so on; their culture, their reasons for 'using' the aliens...Hell, why Daschande's story hasn't been exploited is beyond me...The comics took that to a great level.

Nice and bloody, albeit in a CGI kindaway. Still, I would have preferred things to have been set more in the Alien/Aliens era. Please Mr. Cameron, we need an 'guns and mayhem' Aliens for the 21st Century.
I was also rather worried by the sight of so many teenagers at the start of the trailer, and feared the worst. But most of them died in unpleasant fashion, so that was all sorted out!

Oh yes!
My 'main' problem with AvP1 was the fact it will be the first Alien or Predator film most of the current generation will see. I'm sure most will think it 'rocks' but those who have seen the originals first time round will know otherwise.
The new film does look better than the first, lets hope it is!

I am sure I'll get flamed for saying this but the Alien vs Superman one off Comic was really good.
