Having played both bfbc2 and avp I would say don't bother buying avp. bfbc2 is infinitely better.

If you could find AvP for a cheap price then maybe, It can be fun when you get into a good game, but the lack of dedis is really starting to put me off it, The lag you can get in some matches is terrible. It makes it a very frustrating experience at times, especially when the melee combat isnt very polished as it is.

Personally i would say hold off buying it for now, wait for them to patch it and release the dedis.

Good point. Though I'm pretty annoyed about the delay in getting dedis with the game - we weren't informed of the dedi delay until *very* late on, by which point I'd already preorded on steam.

the cheapest iv seen it is either in tescos for around £22 or play.com for £17 do you think them prices are still to high for how the game is or rather a ok price? :)

Unfortunately the AvP trailers made the multiplayer look really cool and exciting when in reality its just dull and boring :( The fact there still isnt any dedicated servers doesnt help matters either.

For £17 its not that bad, but there has been a lot of problems for people who ordered from Play. Tbh though i can see this game falling in price very quickly. Its a shame really.

AVP is mainly a Multiplayer game anyway. The single player part is not worth playing for really but the multiplayer is good, its going to get loads of big updates soon for dedicated server support. Also im sure there will be expansion packs so that will bring loads to the game.

Really enjoyed it tbh, both single and multiplayer. Probably goes back to watching Aliens far too much as a teenager, but just the sound of the motion tracker sets me on edge. What did surprise me though is that I actually enjoy playing as an alien, especially in multiplayer.

I'd have to say it's well worth £17. It provides a different style of gameplay to other shooters, and from my point of view, it's pure fun. Much easier to jump into a game now that the dedicated servers have arrived as well.

I actually quite enjoy predator hunt and infestation modes, both which have varying difficulty based on the skill of the players in the game. Predator hunt is quite like "hidden source" mod for HL2 where if you kill it, you become it. A good predator really puts a strain on the marines!

Infestation is one of the best mulitplayer modes in a game I've played in a long time. Starts with a full team of marines against nothing, 1 person gets chosen to become the alien and the round starts. When the alien kills a marine, that player also becomes an alien. Basically its like a last man standing mode and it quickly turns from everyone being really relaxed to frantic running and aiming later on haha

Have to agree with you, it's great, starting out as tense and building up to absolute nuts as the marines get picked off.

I just genuinely don't understand the other comment that was posted above that multiplayer is dull, when it's some of the most frantic online gaming I've ever seen. If anyone thinks it's dull, they've never been the last man standing in an 18 player game of infestation.
