So I just noticed this video of the new Alienware 13 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0cian91zRU

Surprisingly similar to the MSI GS30 but comes with a GTX860m.

I'm surprised that companies are adopting this form of notebook. Especially since most people with a small gaming notebook want to be able to take it around easily without having to carry a huge dock with it.

What do you guys think about these?

ULV isn't bad per se and has advantages such as low heat output and good battery life but more and more games prefer a quad these days, but if you have a hefty desktop gpu do you want a ULV dual core CPU hindering it?

Hi Robbsy.

This product is aimed at people who want to use their NB for work/Uni so have extended battery life, lighter, easier to carry.

Then when they get home, to be able to dock and play the best games with the latest GPU.

it's not meant to be a "gaming laptop", but a high end laptop that is capable of games, but able to be the ultimate gaming laptop when docked.

Hope this helps in regards to the GS30.

Regards

So is there going to be a smaller form factor MSI gaming laptop without the dock? I'd love to see that.

With Alienware 13 and the dock, it doesn't have to be on the dock, you place the dock as you would with an external drive, printer, etc.

If it was like this with the GS30 i'd be more interested. Also I'm not a fan of the GS30's aesthetics. It would look awesome if it was like a mini GS70.

Do you think someone will come up with a decent "universal" style attachment? When the 970m in my laptop gets old I'd be happy to rip it out and route a cable or something direct into the pci express port it came from, to connect some external beast.

This would definitely be awesome
