Alienware 55" 4K/120Hz OLED Monitor with Displayport 1.4

It may have gaming features that the 2019 LG OLED won't have. And if it came out today, you could use it today. HDMI 2.1 video cards are still a long ways off.

I would still wait for LG to launch the 4K 120 OLED. But im confused i had one 120hz LCD and for gaming i wanted 240hz so theres no going back to 120.

But what happens to the traditional 60hz games? I wanted an OLED at 60hz to match these games on say switch or ps4 or PC. I dont think even 60fps on 120 or 240hz screen looks right it only seemed right on a 60hz display.

This is not the case for 120hz games on say 240hz screens they scale but for me 60hz games need a 60hz panel. Especially on switch there is no VRR there so really why is LG moving TV to 120hz? Whats the plan 60 and 120hz OLED or is 60hz OLED doomed? Thats going to mean people who have old gaming titles better buy up a 60hz OLED soon? I suppose they could brand them as monitors and have the two coexist as well. Is this what is happening with this Alienware?

The Alienware not only has DP 1.4, it also has HDMI 2.1. Definitely going to be the high end gaming monitor.

Def £5k+ now...
Doubt it. Will be less than that.

This is highly likely going to be my next monitor. Perfect spec. Makes all the other ones look rubbish tbh.

I will likely get the TV version in 2020 for closer to a grand ;)

Since the 55" LG C9 OLED will likely launch at $/£2,999, I will say the Alienware will launch at $/£3,999.

Looks amazing. I wouldn’t have thought being an OLED panel it’ll last very long though? I’m thinking it wouldn’t take long for a Windows desktop to burn itself in permanently?

How often do you leave your Windows desktop on the screen though ?? Ever heard of a screensaver ? ;)

Interesting that Dell are starting to include OLED screens on their laptops as well, could hopefully start paving the way for Monitors.

Linus did a CES preview of this and that's what they are working hard on before release.

4 - 5K that means Im out. Mind you the tech will be affordable in a couple of years.
Just get the tv version mate. In 12 months it will be £1000-£1500 on sale as they try and get rid of them to make space for the 2020 model. I can’t see what Alienware will be doing to make it much better than LG. Plus with the TV version it will come with no less than 5 years warranty, doubt the monitor will.
