So I have the Alienware 3D monitor (bought it for the frame rate increase - not 3D. I have a 5870) and am curious as to whether I could get it working with my PS3. I know the HDMI needs to be version 1.4, which isn't on the monitor, but is there some sort of converter that would allow hdmi on one end for the PS3, and dual link DVI on the other end for my monitor.
Cheers.

The PS3 only needs HDMI 1.3 for 3D. And yes you can hook them up via a DVI to HDMI cable. Then use the PS3's optical out for sound.

The PS3 only has HDMI 1.3 hardware and supports 3D. The only difference between 1.3 and 1.4 is 1.4 has ethernet built in and audio return. The handshake protocols are a little different also, so you won't be able to push 3D through an AV receiver that doesn't support 1.4. I've also heard of problems when the cable is over 3 feet.

Not sure on this one but I don't think the PS3 supports 1080p in 3D, you might need to change the settings on your monitor to 1080i or 720p.
