Having a hard time trying to install winxp on my laptop, it was in raid, but i now have it set as ATA in bios and laptop in bios will see the two hdd installed, the problem is i don't have a floppy drive and when i go to install winxp pro sp2 it keeps saying ( setup did not find any hard drives installed )

I know how to do the f6 floppy drive raid install as done this many times on other pc's, but in this case as it is not set for raid i don't understand why i would have to load raid driver via a floppy.

The make is alienware D900T.

So anyone know a work around other then buying a usb floppy drive or making a slipstream cd.

the best way to add Sata drivers to a windows setup disk is to use nLite
its free and easy to use.

Google nLite im sure you will find it, there is also a guide on there site
to help you on how to use the software.

just a quick tip for you on the Task Selection window just tick integrate drivers and Make a bookable ISO.
unzip the sata drivers into a folder on your desktop on the system your making the cd.

First attempt did not work, same msg: setup did not find any hard drives installed.

I did not unzip the sata drivers into a folder on the desktop on the system Im making the cd, i copied from the cd could this have been the cause for it not to load the drivers, it seemed to go on the slip as it should.

Will try again later today only this time ill copy the files to my hdd and add them, that way.

Thxs for the reply.

Hi Nemesis yeah you can copy the sata drivers from the cd as long as there the right ones
just copy them from the cd to a folder on your desktop then add them to the selected
drivers list.
