Hi,

i'm considering buying a laptop for light gaming, (Lol at friends, wow when i eventually inevitably fall back into it, a few steam games etc) and wondering how this compares to what else you can get for the money? under £1,000.

English Windows® 7 Home Premium (64 BIT)
3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-3630QM (6MB Cache, up to 3.4GHz w/ Turbo Boost 2.0)
2GB GDDR5 NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 675M
6144MB (1x2GB + 1x4GB) 1600MHz DDR3 Dual Channel
500GB 7,200rpm SATA 3Gb/s HDD
17.3" WideHD+ (1600 x 900 ) WLED LCD
DVD+/-RW (Read/Write)
Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 2230 with Bluetooth 4.0
Primary 9 cell Li-Ion Default Base Battery
Anti Virus Not Included
1 yr Next Day In-Home Hardware & Premium Software Phone Support
No Accidental Damage Protection
Alienware M17x Stealth Black

I know the screen resolution isn't 1920x1080 however it's better than my last laptops 1366x768... and would only help the gpu by not having to push out as much? Any thoughts on if this is a fair deal? / what else could be had for under 1k elsewhere?

EDIT cut out exact price when i realised.

Today I saw on the outlet a R4 with 7970 and 1080p screen below 1k so buy one and be happy with performance over 675M :)

Oooh i wasn't aware of the outlet until you mentioned it, little google pointed me to it..

I've always been somewhat averse to B grade / refurbed, thinking something might of happened to it by previous owner though... pretty sure that would nag at me...

Thanks for pointing out though, i'll seriously consider :D

Most ppl here (at the prev thread about AW) bought refurbished once. All they are are most of the time new machines that were sent back with minor fault that were repaired and then placed on outlet. All the AW have normal warranty and cooling of period so can't go wrong. Only thing is that the model with 7970 is rare and I am surprised that
there is still one there (few months back after Dell place them on outlet they disappear in max 5 sec :P )

A lot of them are simple returns for random reasons unrelated to any issues with the device itself, e.g. circumstances changed, lost their job and can't afford a new laptop, ordered the wrong model, too big, too small, too slow, too fast, screen too small, laptop too heavy, etc. I always order from the outlet, and I have yet to find anything wrong -- everything has always looked (and behaved) brand new, and have never had a single warranty issue. It's pretty bullet-proof if you ask me. I don't know why more people don't know about it.
