I purchased a re-furbished Alienware M11x R1 from a company named UKLaptops in June 2010 and was supplied with a 12 month RTB warranty.
As many of you may be aware, there is a manufacturing 'fault' on these m11x's where the hinges connecting the screen to the main part of the laptop tend to break.
Now, this happened to me once (about 5 months into owning this laptop), so I had called UKLaptops to fix it, and after some struggle, I managed to convince them of this manufacturing error and they agreed to fix it for me.
2 days ago, the hinges went and once again, I am left with a laptop that is more a less in two pieces. So I give UKLaptops a call to explain to them that the hinges had broken again, but this time they refuse to take any responsibility for it. Now, given that the laptop is still under the RTB warranty, and that they have actually fixed it for me before for the very same reason, how can they do this to me?
They were very rude to me on the phone and I have a feeling they aren't honouring their responsibility to me as a customer.
Unfortunately I have no warranty with Dell, there appears to be no Dell service tag on the laptop.
My question is, what would you do in my scenario? And secondly, do any of the OCUK forums know if Dell (Alienware) will offer a fix for this issue given that this is their fault entirely for designing a laptop hinge that breaks all the time.
I am really unhappy with this, and UKLaptops which frankly has the worst customer service I have ever experienced.
