11.6", 4.5lbs, up to 6.5 hour battery life, 335gtm switchable graphics, core 2 duo CPU.

$799

As always with Alienware it looks gaudy, which is unfortunate but if they can make a laptop like this for $799 I would love to see it trickle down to mainstream Dells :D

that would just defeat the point entirely though

they might as well put an Atom in it :D

The 1.3ghz dual core su7300 is actually pretty quick, about 2-2.5x faster than an n270.

Running MW2 @ 1280x720 high settings, no AA:

There's also places speculating an i3 version of it.

when this gonna be available?
love it, how this graphic compares to G210m/g230m?

Within the next couple of months in the US, no idea here.

Graphics card should be somewhere between a GT240m and GTS250m, so around 6k in 3dmark06 based on the specs.

The base spec CPU is still a dual core, the only difference as far as I can tell is that the SU7300 has virtulization and an extra 1mb of cache (3mb over 2mb). Not worth the extra £40 imo.

I would buy one of these right now if they released a non-kiddie looking version. I personally find the lights and hideous design an embarassment and could never get it out on the train on the way to work. It's a shame they don't put these components into a standard, smart looking design.

I'm sure Dell will eventually. Maybe a Studio XPS type design with any luck.

It's a completely different laptop to the m15x, it's for people who need a small portable laptop with a little bit more power.

You can currently get this spec:

Alienware M11x - Cosmic Black
Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium, 64bit, English
Intel® Core 2 Duo SU7300(1.3GHz,800MHz,3MB)
11.6-inch WideHD 1366x768 (720p) LCD
4096MB 1067MHz Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM [2x2048]
500GB (7,200rpm) Serial ATA Hard Drive
1GB GDDR3 NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 335M
8-cell 63Whr Lithium Ion battery

For £700 - 6% Quidco, so £658 total or £630 with the 320gb HDD.

It has expired now, best deal is £685 with the SU7300, 320gb HDD, 2GB RAM and a TACTx mouse (has to be selected) after Quidco.

Edit - Raikiri, where have you seen that spec? very interested but only see an overpriced £750 spec

Well... on the Dell Euro site, they're the only place you can buy them :p

-6% Quidco.

Keep in mind that's with a £60 mouse, you could probably get £40 for it if it wasn't wanted/needed. So £645 ish.

I can't imagine why anyone would want this... 11" of screenage is just too small in my opinion - even for normal computer use...

I've used my 11.6" 311C for a while now and have never had any issues. It's a laptop, it's meant to be portable.

The market's taken a turn towards lower speeds and more cores; it spread the workload around and jobs are therefore easily carried out at lower speeds across more departments of the processor, you could say.

That's true, but the 7300 is only a dual core CPU... :p
