Evening all,

Have been pondering over a new laptop now for some months. My current laptop has the following spec;

RAM; 4GB (2.96 usable) (can anyone explain that...?)
CPU; Intel Core 2 Duo, T6500, 2.10Ghz
OS; W7 32bit

I bought the laptop almost three years ago and it's been fairly decent the whole time. However, it's starting to slow up now and show signs of wear (allow me to be honest, I fancy something new too!)

I would love to get into some PC gaming as well. Not only this, I use my laptop on a day to day basis for internet usage, Microsoft Office and other additional things. I can only imagine a decent machine will only make these minor software usage programs even quicker. I've been restricted from doing odd bits and bobs from my current computers processing power, namely high end PC gaming but also video editing software limitations.

Enter Alienware M14x.

I simply love the design. It's so ugly it's beautiful!
From what I understand it's a sophisticated piece of kit, too, but is not without it's faults or complaints.

Just wanted to get a "second opinion", as it were, from you good folk and your experiences and thoughts of the machine (or any Alienware products, for that matter).

Alternative makes and model suggestion is of course welcome, providing they are laptops.

Cheers!

Don't know much about the m14x but I have an m15x and a brand new m11x (which i'm loving) and I cannot fault the design or the service from Dell.

If you do some googling you can find links to discount sites for Dell so you can get a better spec for your money.

The Dell XPS 17 has the same graphics card and a bigger and better screen if that interests you? Same sort of price as well. You didn't really specify if portability is an issue, but the M14x is a great bit of kit from what I've heard, just don't expect normal 14" portability :)
