Alienware M15 thoughts

Hi everyone, I have had 2 Alienware laptops in the past and found the service from dell and laptop them selves to be excellent for gaming and general use and very well built. I sold my last one due to not using it enough but I miss it and wish I kept for even the odd gaming hour here and there.

since then there is a new model the Alienware m15 what is all round smaller the normal 15 what was built like a tank, do many people have the new one is it as well built ?


also I had the GTX 1070 then the GTX 1080 and found played all the games I like effortlessly, games like the latest total war and skyline cities and they are billions and also looking forward to remastered red alert etc and age of empires. however I am a bit stuck weather to go fot the gtx 1070 or the rtx 2060 ?

whats the one that plays the best and regarded higher as prices very similar in the outlet ?

They have them in some Curry's PC world branches,

I too am having a look at them and have played about with one.

Takeaways:
Screen is nice
Keyboard is nice
Overall look is good but not up there with Ultra-books in looks or slimness
However is it extremely backpack able, and is generally pretty slim


Only thing i'm not sold on is the bezels around the display, they are big ish but also glossy and the material looks like it may scratch overtime.

Pick of the bunch for me is the RTX2060 with 16gb of ram and the 8750H at 1799 (dont forget the 10% off code EXTRA10 to get it for more like 1600)

Oh and i forgot to say, I dont think there is a 1070 version, there is a 2070 Max Q but it's worth noting that the MAX-Q is essentially the lowest power 2070 in laptops, where as the 2060OC is in the model i mentioned above, so the gap is not as big as it otherwise would be (not much anyway)

All new alienware laptops only have the Max-Q GPUs aside from the Area 51M.
 
I will be purchasing from the outlet when i do buy and i thought i seen some gtx 1070 last time i looked but i may be mistaken, is the rtx 2060 6gb ram gddr6 as powerful as the gtx 1070 ?

I am in no rush as still saving and waiting for a few games like ancient cities and red alert remastered etc but jist asking now and waiting for next sale i imgine.

Unfortunately the userbenchmark site doesn't have a comparison for the GTX 1070 (mobile) and the RTX 2060 (mobile).

The closest they have is the GTX 1070 (mobile) vs the RTX 2070 (Max-Q) (the 2060 Max-Q in the alienware will be at least 15% weaker still) - https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compa...-Q-vs-Nvidia-GTX-1070-Mobile/m703511vsm164129

So the RTX 2060 in a alienware would be close to the performance of a GTX 1070 (mobile) but with cooler temps.

I'd recommend the 1070 for overclockability.
 
I dont really overclock at all but i will save up and then check sales at the outelt and see whats on offer then i will ask some questions.
