Hi all

I am looking at putting a couple of 256gb Samsung 840 pro SSDs in my m17x r4 but I have a question I can't seem to find the answer to, I know that in a lot of cases the boot times on raid are slower because of the time it takes to start the raid controller but is this the same on the Alinware?

I was looking at the MSI laptops and they have a fast booting raid system which makes the overall boot time faster that just 1 SSD.

I know overall it would be faster working so may do it anyway but if the boot times are faster that would be the icing on the cake :)

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

On my m18 r1 its set to RAID but I am not using RAID. It is like on a desktop so it just loads the RAID BIOS which takes about 2 seconds after that it’s a normal boot. It might be different on the r4 as it’s a newer chipset but it will probably be about 1-2 seconds to load the RAID BIOS.

Thanks for the reply, 1-2 seconds isn't bad at all.

I will order another SSD and see what happens :)
