Alienware Mx17 R3 Output 2560x1440

I was just wondering if anyone knows if its possible to get the mx17 R3 (with a 580m) to output to 2560x1400 res?

I have heard you need to use the mini display port can you tell me which one will work?

I will be using this with the Dell U2711
