Alienware poking fun at next gen consoles

Sad to say, I own an Alienware M17x r4 gaming laptop... Wont ever buy another one. I only got it due to my circumstances at the time, I was being put under the thumb by a rather IMO poor girlfriend and I didn't have the balls to leave her soon enough.

Basically she wouldn't let me have a desktop PC and I couldn't use my PS3 and eventually a PS4 on the main living room TV, so I got an alienware as the laptop had HDMI in port to allow me to hook my Ps3 up to it whilst I was in the same room as her whilst she watched rubbish telly..

It fixed my problem in terms of gaming, didn't help my relationship, we broke up anyhow.. : - )

won't buy another one. Over priced and problematic IMO. Underpowered as well. i'd actually rather use my PS3 or Ps4 over the laptop in most cases.

Don't get me wrong, it plays games fine, but its not what you'd expect for the price. Tomb raider on Ps4 was way, way better then on this Alienware I use....

Still wouldn't touch them!!

My mate got given a two-grand, top-spec Alienware laptop by his works (some form of software developer).
Looks the business, but overheats and shuts down every time he runs anything more strenuous than a web browser...:D

It's been back to the factory twice, and still doesn't work properly. Quite common to see him programming on a Toshiba Netbook instead.

It's just a shame that i'd rather spend the same amount as an average Alienware aimed at the "pro 1337 hax0r FPS PRO RGB LED" people on both a "hugely underpowered and useless" console and computer.

Here's some Alienware logic: On their more expensive desktop, they charge almost £500 to have a 1TB Hard drive and a 256GB SSD. They then charge £140 to include a blu-ray drive. Both of these features can be bought from OcUK for only £210, leaving £430 for your console purchase/even more powerful computer/beer.

That would be why!! Price is a out off too!

There have also been reports of the graphics chips lifting off the board due to the temps they hit!! Nice one Dell, stick to desktops & monitors!!
