Hi all,

I have the below rig and been using it a while, seems to handle games nicely but i find that fan noise is pretty high, like annoyingly high. Even in quiet mode i end up sticking my headphones on and ignoring it, i track the CPU and GPU temps and they never seem to get over 70-80 so is it good for this to be pumping out this much noise/air all the time?

Does anyone use the same laptop, notice the same thing and if so what have you done about it please?

The most obvious things I can think of to lower power usage is: 1. turn off (CPU) turbo mode in the BIOS and 2. use v-sync.

I don't know much about this particular laptop, but you have some high-end hardware there in a compact space, so I'm not surprised it runs hot and loud.

This level of hardware simply isn’t usable in a laptop without being hot, loud and having a terrible battery life.

I’ve got a Dell XPS with the i7 1165G7 and that chip is boarder line usable.

I’m sitting tight hope for AMD’s next round of APU’s. I think they could open the door for usable high performance laptops with graphics.

The only thing I can think of to help, would be some kind of laptop base with fans.
