Alienweare MX18 i7

The laptop uses a H77 intel board which is voltage locked. It is also has a very limited multiplier clocking depending on your CPU. I don't know which CPU option you bought the laptop with but i dont think you can change the multiplier on these mobile chips unless it is a 'XM' chip (extreme mobile). The price difference between the QM CPUs and the XM are huge, comparable to their non mobile versions. So if you haven't bought the laptop yet, don't bother getting an extreme edition cpu for it, since the locked voltage and limited cooling options wont let you make much use of the extreme part you pay so much for.

Whether dell allows you to overclock at all is a different matter. They sometimes like to lock parts of the BIOS so you cant mess around with stuff like multiplier and fsb. Best way to see is to enter the bios and see what options are available to you if you have it.

With all this considered, i am going to say that it is unlikely you can overclock past the turbo frequency or even at all since it comes with its own factory over clock. Overclocking would be probably more likely if you had an XM CPU though.

If you own the laptop can you tell me:
What is your CPU model exactly?
What bios options are available to you?
