All Cubase users

Ive just upgraded (thats why it took so long to reply) to an opty 146 from a sempron socket A. Was this the wrong move? Should i have gone opty 165? And was i right in thinking that my sempron could not take the strain of reason 3 and Cubase sx3 Rewired along with multiple vst plug ins.
