All DMI tools show PCI-X slot as 32bit?

Hi,

Does anyone know why all the DMI tools for viewing system specs are showing my PCI-X slot as 32bit bus width?

Is Asus falsely selling boards as PCI-X 64bit 133mhz , when they are not.

Is there a driver or something I need to install to ensure it runs in 64bit?

Or is simply the DMI method of querying the mombo devices not reliable enough and shows incorrect details?

All advice appreciated.

Cheers,

My guess is the tools not being up to date.
A lot of tools require a table that recognises the chipsets involved to work out the basic (standard) settings, if they are out of date it'll not give a correct reading - a few years ago one of the common tools didn't know about Via's Athlon chipsets and kept reporting problems with them because it was out of date.

Also you may have to plug a 64 bit device into the slot to get a valid report if by default the 32 bit extension is not active

I have an Adaptec U320 64bit 133mhz SCSI card in the slot, that's why I was concerned.

Or perhaps have Adaptec ripped me off?

It is backwards compatible with 32bit 33mhz standard PCI slot, hmm, something is a miss here and i'd like to find out what!

Is there any way I can find out for sure via a reliable method?
