All DS3 owners please

Just some advice on a cpu cooler . It needs to fit on the ds3 board and prefer quieter cooler as comp in bedroom. will have a 6600 to be coolied with a bit of o/c not much tho and playing a lot of games

which cooler do you recommend
my list so far

Ninja rev 2 fav atm
zalman 9700 led looks nice
tuniq tower noisey ?

do i actually need something that good ? could a get something nearly as good long as its quiet im not to bothered

suggustions / ideas / advice welcome cheers
 
You don't have to worry too much about the cooler fitting on the board - as long as it specifies socket LGA775 you should be OK. You should be more worried about whether the Ninja or whatever other monster you buy will fit in your case!

If you are worried about noise then get the Ninja - you can run it with any 120mm fan. The Scythe fan provided is pretty quiet but you can replace it with a quieter one if you like. If you have good airflow in your case you could even run it passively.

Equally, the Tuniq Tower fan can be replaced if you wanted to go for that.

There seem to be plenty of posts about E6600s running hot lately so I would definitely recommend that you spend some money on a decent cooler. Spending less and finding out it doesn't do the job can only be more expensive in the end.
 
Get a Ninja, I run mine passively most of the time even though I have no case fans anymore (or a side panel for that matter) and it works fine on a 3GHz Core 2 Duo.
