Hi Guys

Little disappointed that i cant hit the magical 1500mhz on my 980. Its a EVGA superclock scx 2.0 but i have a EK waterblock on it. i have the volts as high as the EVGA tool will allow. temps are fine and im using Furmark to test the overclock if it survives furmark for 5 mins then i will go gaming and see how it gets on.

Whats my next step ? do i need to go custom bios etc ? screen shot attached.

Ermm need more info tbh

What is the actual Boost clock and voltage underload(at stock, and at your highest stable OC),as both your pics show different values.

You shouldnt be using furmark to test Overclocks.Use Heaven Valley or firestrike instead.

Install GPU-z,it seems to offer the most accurate recording of information,it also can help identify where your issue is with an OC

that screen shot is under load with GPU-z on the right. the Clock speed on the EVGA tool is up and down all the time and the GPU-z is stable. that is the max GPU clock offset i can achieve without getting an error. I will give firestrike a go quick

As above , going the wrong way about it . Furmark is a torture test and isn't designed to aid oveclocking as such .

Also use afterburner and the statistics server it installs so you can monitor clocks in real time as often reported arnt always your actual clocks . Gpu-z in my experiance isn't great at readings .

Need to understand more about maxwell , maxwell dosnt respond in linear fashion to voltage increases like Kepler . More voltage dosnt always mean more headroom , if you want to reach higher clocks go and do some reading in the GPU section for 980 owners

my bad,im just not paying proper attention lol.I meant show the sensors tab of GPU-z ;)

From what Gpu-z i you should be getting boost clocks just over/under 1500mhz.The values in your screen shots are 'estimates' and doesnt take into account the full range of the dynamic boost. The sesnors tab will show accurate real time readings(what precision shows bassically).

My guess is your cards throttling back as furmark is stupid demanding and no way a realistic way to test performance for a GPU.

cheers guys. Will will try other ways of stressing. the extra voltage is 100% helping as if i drop it i get less headroom. But again thats with Afterburner. i only used that as its quick
