i set the folks up with a new LCD Tv

TOSHIBA 37WLT58

and home cinema sound kit

PHILIPS HTS3500S

they also have a sony VCR (!) recorder - which to be honest think theyve used twice in 3 years or something....

and the good old Sky digibox...

I must admit the control on the Philips seems pretty rubbish - horrible keys... and probably a few too many for them...Toshiba feels 2 foot long !

is there something you guys/gals can recommend to replace all 3 controls ?
maybe 4 with the VCR - but not essential.

Is there a device that will operate ALL of the features? I suppose it will be no good if you gotta keep one of the others handy for 1 `missing` function...

thanks in advance.

Have a look at the logitech harmony range.

Ive just ordered a 525, they've had some very good reviews on the AV Forums, prices for the 525 start at £50, and go upto £200 for the latest model.

They will do everything that you current remotes do and some more.

as has been said the logitech harmony remotes are great my mate got a few of us some from an NEC event a month or so ago, and i picked up a 525 for £45 which was a bargin its great. i have owned a few different ones in my time as i have a lot of kit this is the first that i can say controls everything and whats more it does it well. my mate got the 825 the all singing all dancing one. tbh i was a bit dissapointed with it the only difference is a colour screen and a you can have little images for your activities i didnt think the build was particularly better than mine.

anyway to sum it up the 525 is great for the money slight downside is the build quality isnt great dont get me wrong its in no danger of falling apart it just creaks a little bit. but it is a great remote

Sony Integrated Commander AV 2500 - Lokos nice, feels nice, and is easy to programme.

Will not walk dog, batteries not included.
