HI guys ive started my built, staring with a zalman z11plus case, now there is a free 3.5in bay at the bottom not being used, and my old computer has an all in one card reader which is 3.5 in, so was going to put that in to fill the spaces, as im also going to have an led touch screen fan display...

anyways this is going to be an win 7 system and this card reader as far a i know was only supported up to win xp. do you think this will still work on this system??

ill be running win 7 ultimate x64

It probably will work. I put one in a build for the sister in law last year and that was a fairly old card reader. It connected to a usb header on the motherboard and didn't need any drivers. I tested it with various cards and windows 7 had no problems with it so I can't see why it wouldn't be the same with yours.

Quick noob card reader question - how are card readers like this BitFenix Superspeed USB 3.0 Card Reader actually connected?

Am I right in thinking that they simply have a single USB cable that you route out of the back of your machine and into a USB 3.0 slot on the back of your motherboard and that's it?? (there is mention of an "internal 20-pin connector" - how would I check to see if my motherboard has the right connector?)

Connects to an internal USB3.0 header - look at the blue connector in the third pic.

What motherboard do you have?

Ah, was afraid of that! My motherboard is an MSI P67A-GD65 which appears to only have a single USB 3.0 header! (I was in the process of looking for a new case which had a front USB 3.0 port so I could have two!)

Are you already using the USB3.0 port? You can have two USB3 sockets per header - try to find a case with 2 USB 3 ports, and get a usb2 card reader.
