Thanks Nelly
Am I right in thinking the Hynix are the ones to get?
Depends what you want to do with them I guess, I just like to plug and play now, I used to have a few decent kits on Intel X58, and AMD 790FX chipsets for good clocking.
I had the Kingston HyperX Beast 16GB (2x8GB) PC3-19200C11 2400MHz, I returned them weeks ago, because by the time 16GB is needed, their will be better kits available. Also the fins are too high for my Silver Arrow.
Bought some G.Skill Trident 8GB 2400C10 cheap bog standard Samsung kit - got them yesterday, will keep me going for a few years - plus the red fins are removable.
I am almost certain the Kingston Beast / Predator kit's using Hynix are slightly faster, than what's used in my G.Skill Trident's, but not noticable unless you run Aida 64 etc - check review comparisons that test Aida.
I do know Batman Arkham Asylum, and Dirt 3 do benefit from better ram, their is jumps for 1333 to 1600, then upto 1866MHz, 2400MHz is cheap enough so went for it, I was using Corsair 1600MHz 9-9-9-24 ram prior - I'll run some tests with both sets of kit over Christmas, and post back my results in this section.
For the price I think the Beasts are well worth buying - I didn't really want to return mine, although your not going to see major improvements over 1600MHz kit, a few fps dependent on the game, some none at all.
Take a look at this thread, regarding Ivybridge scaling >>
