All Microsoft Updates fail to install

Hello. I've just performed a format/reinstall of XP on my dads PC. SP3 installed without a hitch. I now have 12 additional updates (including SP1 for Office 2007) that will not install. They all fail. There is no record of them failing on the Microsoft Update webpage, and there is no reason or error code given. This makes the Microsoft support pages useless because they tell you to find the error codes even though in this instance, they do not exist.

Why are all the updates failing, and how do I fix this?

Yes the date is correct.

Hi I found a solution to the problem. I downloaded a .txt file that had to be renamed to .cmd. When this was run, it re-registered a number of Windows services. After a restart, the updates installed perfectly.
