All of a sudden, all of my source based games have stopped loading!

As above!

I get the bald bloke with the tap in his head, sometimes I get as far as the blurred "Loading image". Sometimes I even get as far as the non-blurred "Loading image" with the menu selection.

However in all cases I then get a crash to desktop.

(After which there are no other PC issues, It is just Steam/Source)

Other steam games still load just fine, it is just the source ones that dont work.

I have done google on this but the only references I have found are fairly old and seem to involve issues that dont seem likely to be significant here.

(IE It all worked fine a couple of weeks ago! It makes no sense that I should suddenly have to force DX9 or whatever!)

Any suggestions??

I had that in a few source titles. Spent ages trying to fix them, in the end I just deleted them and let it redownload the whole thing, worked fine after that.

Same for me. I spent ages re-whatsiting, checking the integrity of the thingamebobwhatjamacallit.

The only thing that worked was deleting the lot and redownloading.

Well, I have tried nuking it and reloading

(And that was fun due to BT internet deleting the email ac I used when I first DL/d steam! :mad:

But that is another story!)

Still no joy.

I note that there is a "Debug" file in the steam directory that contains

[0804/142634:ERROR:resource_bundle.cc(417)] Failed to load K:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\bin\chrome.pak..

There is a "Chrome.Pak" at that location but it appears to be empty.
