... i've miss placed my copy of XP :( Il have to search my flat again but if i cant find it im really stuck. I may well plumb for Vista if i have to and get a retail copy of Basic.

Can anyone tell if basic actually comes with DirectX 10? I dont really need all the periferal bumpf that comes with Vista Premium.

Could someone tell me if the Basic version eats as much memory as the Premium Version.

Hopefully i will locate my windows XP disk and avoid the expense.

Get the disc from another source and install using your serial number on COA :) The disk must be the same though (XP pro oem with XP Pro serial)

I have no experience of Vista but Home Basic, as the title suggests, is very basic! I think you'll be better off going for Vista Home Premium 32/64 Oem for £70 :)

COA?

I think the Product Key was on the disk case which i cant find so thats a no go. If the office has one i maybe able to use that. but they are dell machines and im not sure they come with proper disks. If i cant find the disk im pretty sunk

You should stick it on your PC! Then you'll never lose it

Yes next time il superglue it to the case. Surely someone here has basic and can tell me if it uses directX 10 ?

If i get the upgrade version, does that give me the same usage as retail ? i.e. can i use it after upgrading a motherboard etc...
