Hi, I have been saving for the last year to buy a new laptop. I want to use it to run a DAW like pro tools or cubase 8 and if it can run some games that is a bonus.

My budget is around 400 pounds but I dont know what type of specs are needed or how to get the best value out of my budget.

*Don't link to competitors!*

It seems much cheaper than other laptops with similar specs, is there a risk buying this one or a reason why its cheaper?

I'm worried I will end up making a mistake and waste my money.

Would a laptop with lesser specs be able to run something like Cubase 8 and all the plugins? Thanks for any help, it is much appreciated. :)

If I were you, I think I'd keep saving for a little longer. If you're wanting to run stuff like Cubase and other processor-hungry audio apps AND play games you'll struggle to find anything around the £400 mark, I reckon.

You'll want an Intel i5 CPU at the very least, a bare minimum of 8Gb of RAM and ideally a dedicated graphics card.

After a quick search, I found the Cube Chameleon CZ-5840 for £550 which has the i5, 8Gb of RAM and a GTX850 graphics chip, meaning it could play games to some degree.
