All rounder system - which cpu?

At the moment I have an Athlon 64 3700+ running at 2500mhz something on an Asus A8N-SLI mobo with 512mb x 2 PC3200 Corsair Ram and a Geforce 6800 GT 256Mb DDR vga.

I use my pc mainly for photo editing and internet browsing, but I sometimes play the occasional game like the Prince of Persia series, Doom 3, Quake 4 etc...

I have a chance of selling the main components and make a small upgrade. Will I benefit if I switch to a P4 640 3.2Ghz with 2mb cache in photo editing speeds considering that I will get ddr2 ram.

id keep what u got mate maybe up ure ram a bit but part from that its a sweet setup

So PIV are really that slow at the moment and I wont see any difference in speeds when editing photos?

What if I upgrade to a PIV D930 3GHz Dual Core cpu, would I see a significant speed increase? Cause sometimes when I do certain things in photoshop with my system, it feels a bit slow.

if you want to upgrade, wait 4-5 months until intel release conroe. it should be quite something based on the benchmarks. but don't change what you've got for a p4!

If you want an upgrade drop an Athlon 64 X2 in your motherboard - easy!
