I'm looking for a new router. Is there something that covers all the following:
- Are there any that can handle both cable & ADSL?
- gigabit
- usb

Yes, and do you mean both a cable & adsl connection at the same time with load balancing between them, or just the ability to use one or the other.

http://www.draytek.co.uk/products/vigor2820.html

1x ADSL Modem
1x WAN Port - plug your cable modem in here
USB - can share printers or be used instead of the WAN connection for 3G internet modems.

Just add a gigabit switch if you want that for all your devices, don't know of any decent dualwan routers that won't cost you the earth that have gigabit switches in them.

802.11n wireless

Lots of extra features in the firmware that you probably wont ever use.

Another option I suppose would be get hold of an old machine and a couple of dualport network cards, install something like pfSense/m0n0wall and use that to do all of the above, if you want wireless just add a proper access point.

Yep that router should do it perfectly well. I was going to suggest a way you could do it with a WRT54GL cable router but with the hassle and networking knowledge you would need to pull it off you're better off spending the extra cash on the draytek. £130 odd quid is not a lot for what it can do.

Who is your ADSL with? I had that Draytek on O2 and it was such a nightmare to set up I ended up returning it, I'm not sure if there was a fault with it.

I then bought a Edimax after but then I dropped my O2 connection and now its sitting doing nothing, what a waste of money.

If you don't want the two connections at the same time, Skidilliplop's suggestion of the WRT54GL is by far the cheaper of the two.
