While there is a nice difference do what others are perhaps doing? Sell the 8800GT in the For Sales forums or to a fleabay it for 80 quid, theres still many on there ive seen paying £70-90 quid, stop drinking/smoking for a week and you sorted with a lovely 4850, and then the 9800GTX+ comes out and you gotta do it all over again;)

Everyone does say crysis etc but there will be other games arriving but frankly the 8800 range is still mega powerful to handle gaming for a few good years yet it might be that you will just have to game at lower resoloutions or withing AA/AF.

Can you not use DSR to return the GT?

on topic of for sale thread how many posts do i need before i can see it? and where about does it appear in the list?

From the FAQ

"Access to the Members Market forum requires two things. Firstly, you will need to have over 250 posts and have been signed up for at least 90 days. Please note that this does not mean you spam the forums simply to increase your posts, as this action will result in posts being deducted, and if you continue this behaviour, your account will eventually be banned/suspended. Once you reach 250 posts, you will need to activate your trust. This is either found in your UserCP, or you can press the trust button that appears at the bottom of all your posts."

Once you activate your trust members market may not appear straight away, it took about 24 hours for members market to appear for me, once it does it will appear under 'Distributed Computing' on the main page.

It's not just how much power the games need to play. It's more a question of the resolution and level of detial that you like to play at. The higher the res and detail the more power you need. That's why when people come and ask for a new card recommendation they usually get asked what res they play at first.

That's the thing. I bet there are plenty of games that would push most systems if you wanted to run at 1080p, fully maxed details aa and af, vsync'd at a constant 60fps.

There is Tons of games that will rape a 8800GT with Max settings, Full AA+AF at 1920's, possibly even some at 1600's and I am not including the game mentioned above.

You really need a GTS 640 / newer GTS 512 / GTX / Ultra to do that (the 512MB card may struggle in some games at 1920's with lots of stuff going on).

GTS 640 would not be a good suggestion, and no mention of the 9800GTX, 9800GTX+, 9800GX2, 4850 or 4870?

My suggestion would be to try and return the 8800GT and get a 4850-hope OcUK help you out there.

I do not mean he buys a GTS 640 today lol.

I was simply listing the 8800 cards (as he is talking about a 8800GT) until recent ones that should cope still today with 1920's with AA+AF.

I mean to game at the high RES's, a 8800GT is not high end and never was aimed to be.

I don't know if I misread the threads topic but to me he seems to think there are no games period available to MAX his 8800GT.

I'm sure that's true at 1024x768. ;)
