Hi all,

Curious if this is possible, and if it is whats the best way to go about it?

Internet connection paid 75% by 'Bill', other 25% by 'Greg'.

Sky Fibre 40mb connection, Bill wants 75% (30mb) and the rest for Greg.

Is there a way to route this so that Bill ends up with 30mb of the total 40mb and Greg only gets to use 10mb out of the total 40mb?

Few friends in accommodation are arguing as few want faster internet, and the others won't pay the extra required (but will happily use the extra speed) and they're still not willing to pay extra  (despite they'd use it on their Xbox, PS4's etc).

If you have a router that can be upgraded to use Gargoyle, the QOS implementation here can handle this situation well.

Either you can have a hard limit for those that didn't pay extra, or you can set the QOS to share the bandwidth proportionally when usage hits 100% (so if a cheapskate uses the connection when everyone else is out, they enjoy the full speed, but as soon as there's competition for the speed their speeds plummet to a configueable proportion of the connection, in favour of the other users).

Sound good?

Me, I've got ADSL. So I've a Technicolour Tg582 in modem now connected to a Netgear WDNR3700V1 (or is that WNDR? it's one of the two!).

Those netgear routers were the ones shipped by Virgin Media on their top package before they brought out the superhub. So there are quite a few of them available second hand for about £50.
