Alloys Refurbished

My alloys where badly in need of a refurbishment as the previous owner had curbed them quite a bit.
Yesterday I took it to a company called lap-tab, one of the best in the business (did Quentin Willson’s alloys no less).
Decided that since they where going to be powder coated anyway I could choose loads of different colours so rather than have silver again I went for anthracite, a sort of metallic black/charcoal.
Coupled with a very mild lowering/stiffening kit and new 185/50 continental sportcontacts on all corners should give me some safer handling in the wet if I ever need to stop quickly which is a must because if I crash in this car it will be messy.
Besides installing some abarth side skirts this is more or less as far as I'm going aesthetically.
Yes I know it's not to all tastes and others ask why spend money on a shopping trolley but what the hell. Only cost £100 to do all 4 alloys anyway and a further £60 for tyre removal, fitting, balancing and new valves.

Genuine abarth centre caps too ;)

P.S I didn't get sporty tyres to do handbrake turns or burnouts (not that I can :p ), this is safety related to get out of trouble if I need to, I'm near on completing my IAM course.

where are you based? I need a company to do mine. My 17" lenso Kr5's got push on to a curb by a truck driver and a small gap! Not happy! Problem is the lip is chrome, the middle is alloy so might cost a bit to refurbish. I'm in cheshire(middlewich) if anyone knows anywhere.

Looks good mate! :)

Get that door handle colour coded

Yup that might be an idea, also considering respraying my rubstips to glossy black as now with black wheels they stick out like a sore thumb :( .

One person in my car club used audi door handles:

but as I say, I want to put my foot down before I make the mistake and start putting too much tat on, tat = weight = slow.

FYI - people that want to do handbrake turns and burnouts never buy decent tyres!!

They get cheap nasties, so they dont have to fork out loads of moolah!

Anyway, looking very nice there matey :D Apart from they need the rims cleaned from the stuff they use to lube the tyre when they put it on!

I've used them before, very good. Someone at cliosport works for them, he might even pick em up and drop them back off (even lent me some spare wheels so I could get about still), that's what i call service!

My mum also had hers done there and were also good.

Sporty tyres? Thought you had a set of Conti's :p

What is your average curb rate a year?? I curbed 2 18" alloys at the same time had the car 8 months from new and need to prepare myself for the next one :(

Don't you learn?

Hes right ive kerbed my alloys twice. Im SO SO SO carefull but one tiny lapse of concentration and thats it. Especially when your tyres are about 1cm thick :p

I can honestly say I never kerberd my Mondeo alloys in 6months of ownership.

It is easily done though.

Yep because you have whale tyres and whale tyres are hard to kerb. I had my zetec S on whale tyres for 6 months and i didnt kerb the alloy ONCE :D

Lap tab are superb, they've done every set of alloys I've ever owned regardless of whether they're curbed or not, simply because of the finish and ease of cleaning. The black metallic is a superb colour and you'll not regret it.

Just remember. Do not use ANY commercial wheel cleaners now. They'll eat into the plastic coating and ruin the finish. Just normal car wash and water once a week from now on. :)
