Hope someone in here may be able to point out possibly what might be cuasing this.

Over the past 6 months my car has had a history of dropping revs normally to 0,either when changing out of gear and slowing down, normally happens shortly after engaging the clutch. This has been an extremely fustrating as its only happened intermitantly, I have tried what I can to solve this to no avail. -

Different brands of petrol,
air filter is clean,
throttle body has been cleaned,
alturnator belt has been tightened up
battery has been changed.
The car has also just been serviced by a main dailer on a P2 service.

I mensioned the fault to the main dealer, they cleaned the throttle body, at first I thought the problem had gone. After cleaning the throttle body the car only stalls whenever I am pulling up at lights, and not so much at changing gears, although occasionally when moving from 3rd to 4th sometimes revs have gone low. But not enough to stall. Having spent over £250 pounds on servicing and £250 on new tyres and other parts I want to get this sorted once and for all.

To make things harder to diag, the ECU light does not stay on whenever this happens. I had a guy out to check the ECU, this was checked out as working fine. Nissan main dealer also claimed that they checked this as well.

It has been suggested that it may be the Mass airflow filter, I have seen some threads stating that this can be cleaned. Will this make a difference.
I would greatly appreciate a reply from anyone who has either encounted this fault.

The car is a Nissan Almera N16. (Y) Which has just covered 39K, this fault started about 35K and I have been trying to track it down since.

I belive that this is the airflow meter.

There is a problem with almera's cracking their throttle bodies, i know i have one outside with them, it runs like a pig jerking around during normal driving stalls some times and refuses to start others.

But i assume seeing as they had it out to be cleaned they would have checked that.

Thanks for the reply.

Nothing was said about the throttle body cracking after I got it back from the service last week. Since he cleaned the throttle body it hasnt been stalling at the same speeds, it happens less now but at random speeds. Putting my foot on the clutch - it will intermitantly drop to anything between 400-200 rpm instead of the correct idle speed, on mine around 800rpm.

As annoying as this has been, I am really peeved about this car, searches on the forums suggest a lot of problems with the crankcase sensors/ECU related issues. This doesnt help me move forward.

Two options are as follows

Keep driving it, put up with the fault until it properly shows itself up. Hopefully a Engine light will come on.

Keep banging he head agiast this brick wall, using some element of guesswork to determine the fault.

Too me what your describing suggests that the car is running too rich at idle, suggest going through the options of the fuel/air system, air flow meter, injectors possibly a sticky injector.
