By the end of this week ill have enough funds to order my new card. My sig says a 670 but im questioning them a little with the price on the amd cards. Im selling 2 460's, 3dvision2 kit and a few other bits to fund the new purchase. So now im very open to offers even with amd for the first time.

Would the 670 still be the best bet, or does amd compete? was looking at the 7950 and 7970's and some are damn cheap. But i was also looking at the jetstream 670 for 309 which seems a bargain. I want to be able to run all games on max without issues on my 120hertz monitor. Smooth gaming all the time is what im after here, but at the same time i want whatever i buy to last for a few years. 2 - 3.

Although I don't like nvidia with their high pricing, in this situation I'd stick with the 670 to do what you're asking.

Im even willing to go crossfire and get 2 amd cards. But with me never using amd i don't know what they are like in comparison. But i do know my 2 460's just about don't cut it anymore, they will see the bay in the next few days hehe

Not sure about SLI but a 7950 should be close to a 670 when overclocked and its somewhat cheaper but I'm not sure if it will be smooth all the time, even a 670 isn't smooth all the time in some select games on max but if you want that extra grunt id go with a 670

Well it's a budget yeah but i can extend it lol. What 680 do you have rusty, don't want to buy another noisy card! and have to change the cooler

I've got two :)

One Gigabyte WF which I got for £400 and a reference MSI which I got for £420 on release day.

The Gigabyte WF is extremely quiet even under load with an aggressive fan profile to keep it well under 70c (the point which the Kepler cards dial down a little).

As I said though - had the 670's been available when I purchased my 680 on its release day I would have gone the 670 route.

AMD offer better value for money in fairness at the same performance point overall.

Definitely go for a 670 over a 680 mate, cant see nvidia selling much 680s apart from SLI users like gregster.

The 670 for me is extremely smooth in games :)

i have not yet decided guys but i will defo keep you upto date. Yeah that cooler isnt the best is it. Ill keep looking, won't be ordering till next week or late this week anyway.
