I've been watching this and at first admiring the resolve of some of the contestants in surviving in the wilderness for nearly 3 weeks, but I've also been amazed with the final few episodes on the craziness of why some left.

Times are tough and 100k winning prize seems like a life changing sum for some, but they seem to be leaving for reason like, I miss my son, not I'm starving and I need medical help.

No offense but if you can't survive a few weeks without your kids for 100k, then what the hell is wrong with you.

The editing is obviously very ambiguous, most of the time I couldn't tell if they were just lazy or stupid, but some seem to be just sat around doing nothing, when they should be spending their days fishing constantly..

It was a good show but at the same time baffling how badly some play it.

I used to watch Alone I'm guessing the US version is different to the UK one as its on about season 10. Your right with some of the silly decision making. If you want to see the mindset of a winner and an absolute person you want to be stuck with in hard time watch the episode with Roland Welker. Absolute mad man and proper survivor. Its season 7 you will enjoy his attitude to survival.

Interview Site Heres an interview if you cant find the series to give you an insight into the mind of someone who deserves to win.

US one is better. I've been watching it on and off for a few years. They have the added excitement of predatory wildlife at play that you just don't get in the UK or Australian versions. Wolves, Bears and Mountain Lions

I watched a couple of early seasons when it was set in Canada, etc. but I've found even with some changes to locations and rules it kind of got stuck in a rut but also more gimmicky - I struggle to stay interested in the newer series and yeah the stuff like where they are in tears about how they miss their kids after 3 days is just stupid.

They had bears & wolves in the UK one as it was set in Canada but there were no encounters of note.

Currently watching the US version from season 1.

I think you underestimate the mental toll of being truly alone, especially when seriously low on calories and cold, with literally no entertainment at all.

A few days I get, but I can see why people start talking at days 7-10 plus for sure!

It is weird - some people can't even take a few hours of their own thoughts before they are on the edge of a mental breakdown, personally I have no problem with being truly alone for days, weeks.

Wouldn't the point be that you spend all your time fishing and trying to capture food to keep your mind busy. The calorie deficit for me would be the biggest problem and it's one that I would work on the hardest.

The guy who successfully caught many large fish and kept them underground was seemingly doing well, you could spend all day improving your cabin etc if you had energy to burn.
