So i've just paid line rental to BT for a year up front, at the moment we've got BT fibre however due to the price increase (Going from £10am to £23am) i want to change ISP's. Do i have to stick to BT because i've paid them line rental or can i use another ISP but use BT's line rental?

It depends on the ISP. You may struggle to beat BT's price by much as the best deals are offered for broadband + line rental.
Well it's gone from £10 a month for 38mbps fibre to £23 a month so yea kinda expensive imo
Yea even £17 a month seems kinda steep, BT are quite soft from experience, they wanted to raise their line rental but we kept it at the same price

normally u pay in advance anyway (3months) and i left a month after id paid and got money back

Plusnet are cheaper than BT as far as i know and are a BT subsidiary now. So it's near enough the same infrastructure. However Plusnet still are a independent business though. And now they even have the same home hub 5 as BT just re branded in white with the Plusnet logo.
