Alt to Wired network?

I have no means of getting a wired network to the room in question and currently have a linksys 54g pci card in the pc. It can't seem to stream more than 2mb a sec which is giving me probs with high bitrate mkv's. Things I was looking at were:

Wireless-N Mimo card and router
Network over mains power
Wireless boosters i believe Linksys do one

Cheapest most effective route please.

Network over mains is just like LAN so offers the best connection,
its not cheap and not as flexible as Wi-fi but more secure.
N1 is good but being wireless can be blocked by interference from stuff
like cordless phones and microwave oven's and of course walls.
