Behind you... Naked!
I got an old AL251 setup in my attic.

Many years ago, I was going to add a tweeter to them, but I did not want to wreck them.

They still sound fairly good even though they are old as the hills, and the other day, I was helping my mate out and I dug these things out and sure enough they sound great, but are lacking just that little bit extra, so, long one cut short, what I did, was switch them to 2 Channel, so the surrounds are playing the same as the mains, and, instead of plugging the surrounds into it, I simply quickly plopped a pair of car tweeters onto them instead, and they sounded great.

Fair play!

Anyway, we would really like to have all 5 speakers working rather than cheating like that, and so I wanted to open the boxes up.

But I dont want to wreck them either.

So, has anyone done it? How can I do it?

Thanks if you can help.

if the cabs are glued together, then remove the woofer(s) and get access that way.

Edit, just googled them, they are tiny plastic sattelite things.. youll probably break them trying to open them?

Yeah, glad you added that.

Like I said, adding a tweeter makes them a load better... In fact, even though they are well old and have more than served their puyrpose, they are simply better than a lot of setups I have come across for a lot more money, and they would be a great addition for my mates needs.

They would be a seriouslly decent setup if we add a couple of tweeters and yes, going the route of simply adding the tweeter to the BACK LEFT/RIGHT instead of the surround speakers and setting it to 2 Channel instead of 5.1 does indeed give us a really nice warm sound, but I would much prefer to get access to the speakers and do it for all 5 satellites... Well, I will do 4 actually cos Im not really bothered with the center.

The controls are also in the right speaker, and I had given it some thoughts on moving them and making a seperate control box, but in order to do that, what I will do, is use the Center speaker as the right, and buy a seperate but similar speaker for the center.

Oops,. Im waffling.
