Altering small settings

Hello,
I installed my RTM version of Windows 7 the other day and it's running great. I normally format several times a year as it get slower after some time but each time I do a format and reinstall windows, all my customised settings are obviously reset. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how I can create a batch file or a registry script that when run will alter the settings below to my customised liking. The settings I like are:

1.) Have all file extensions shown
2.) Show empty drives in My Computer
3.) Set monitor to never switch off
4.) Set HDD to never power down after an amount of idle time
5.) Set system to never go into standby
6.) To NOT highlight newly installed programs in start menu
7.) To enable games in "Turn Windows features on or off" - (I am using Win 7 Pro)
8.) To display "Games" and "Videos" as links on the start menu like "Documents" etc are.

I think thats all for now.

Thanks

Regards,
Neil

Mainly, because I like to change things so if I do an image backup with 1 type of config and then restore it, I get that config back but I may not like that setup anymore.

I don;t mind doing a full reinstall though.

Everytime, I seem to post here asking for help. I seem to get the majority of people (not always) saying why don;t you do it this way instead instead of trying to figure out exactly what I and how I want it to do.

I'm surprised you feel the need to do that - since xp my installs usually last until i need to upgrade the motherboard! Even more so since Vista. Anyhoo, if you are using the Professional/Enterprise/Ultimate edition most of these settings are adjustable with Group Policies - something you could set and export as a template.

Still Vista/W7 arent ones to slow down after a prolonged lifespan, so don't be surprised if you hear similar. If the majority say you could do differently, maybe you are getting it wrong?

Another reason for formatting is that I can get rid of small apps that I only ever use once and can finally get them fully removed and can start afresh.

Surely a .reg or .cmd file should be possible to alter all of the settings?

google each thing you want doing separately. i'm guessing most will have reg entries or command line options. here's one to get you started...

powercfg -x -monitor-timeout-ac 0

that sets your monitor to never switch off.
