Just wondering if the PS3 allows you to set its Ethernet MAC address to something you choose, e.g. the same as your computer in order to get access to the net via methods that use MAC address authentication.

Cheers.

You can't have two devices with the same MAC on the same network, just set the router to allow the PS3's MAC.

No, they wouldn't be connected at the same time. It's for the uni's network connection - they only allow you to register one computer with its MAC address. If I use the same cable for the console, it would also need the same MAC address as the computer for it to gain access.

The only way you can do it, is register the mac of the ps3 and have your pc spoof it.

Couldn't you register the MAC from a router?

I did it this way. Then had my PC, XBOX360, GF's laptop, and various other bits and bobs accessing the internet. I'll be damned if I'm paying another £160 for yearly internet just to get another device on the net :\
