Alternative Adobe reader?

Just about to install adobe reader, but thought i would see if there is anything else less bloaty out there that does not constantly require updates or start-up access. I only read the odd PDF readme file so nothing fancy is required. Do you good folk use anything else or is abode the only option

Foxit Reader is superb. Very lightweight and is very quick to load (less than a second on my computer).

just downloading now, so is it free or what, it seemed to say it was however i needed to try some other products?
