Thought I'd put my own attempt at this up.... Fully fitted pictures will be a few weeks as the room is getting redecorated.

I'm using the geoleaf design from printables as the basis... There's a few remixes, one of which adds a thicker surround to reduce the bloom of each LED.

Panels have 25 LEDs each, quick release connectors to allow the design to be modified easier and repair any issues that may arise.

First step, print triangles, internal surrounds and the diffuser

Bedroom is progressing, lights will probably be up by the end of the week, but I'm assuming the cable I have is long enough....

Costs:
Panels: <£1 each
LEDs: £7
PSU: £15
Screws, wires, connectors: £20
ESP32 controller: £5

So for the 12 panels, it looks like i'm in for about £60... That's 12 panels, 300 LEDs, fully controllable and modular so I can add more panels on and it gets cheaper per panel as the PSU is more than powerful enough.

It's not perfect, the wires I've used to connect the segments are brilliant for modularity and fault diagnosis, but the connectors are a little thick and I've left some wires a bit long. Had to shove them in when wall mounting it and a few can be seen touching the diffusers.

Oh brilliant, thanks for photos it's looking brilliant. I'm considering something like this for my son's room. Trying to decide if I want to take on the project or just shell out for something premade... lol

Premade is easier and quicker.

Custom is cheaper and you have the potential for more custom setups. Expanding on this is close to zero cost as I have enough PLA and LEDs to make this 10x larger.
