/inb4 Daily Mail online
I've been reading the Beeb for a few years. While I think it's fairly ok / neutral, there is still an element of brown-nosing on whichever gov't is in power. Also, I find that the Beeb uses weasel words - that's putting in extra words that don't mean much. E.g. yes the Italy hotel avalanche collapse was a "tragic event" but we already know that it was a tragedy due to loss of lives. The Beeb also likes to remind us every New Year / Jan that we'll all die early from 'betes type II, lung cancer, AIDs, liver poisoning, dementia, some triggering event and fresh air
What sources do you guys read? Do you read more than one source to get more viewpoints on a topic?
My mum is a fairly extreme example in that she reads both the Guardian and the Daily Mail. They're polar opposites on the left-right spectrum.
Personally, I'm thinking of balancing out the Beeb with Reuters UK. I've read a few Reuters articles and they don't seem to have weasel words. They seem a bit more impartial too, more objective, but I know every media outlet will involve some subjectivity.
