Alternative sat-nav mount? (not suction cup or cup-holder)

Anyone know of an alternative solution to mounting my phone in my car for use as a sat-nav? I don't really want it stuck to the windscreen in-case people break into the car to look for the sat-nav (after seeing the cradle or the mark left by it), and I don't have any 'standard' cup holders either.

I have seen a type which clips onto the air vents which I was considering, but I would rather not block the vent if at all possible and i'm worried it may break the slats.

Any other alternatives I'm forgetting?

This is the interior I have to work with.

Check out brodit air vent mounts? theyre great and dont block the vents. Still circulates as well as it does without the mount. They also do a side dash mount if you're adamant you don't want it near the vents.

My Polo has a pop up box in that hole you have on top of the dash. I've got a brodit in there, I don't use it very often but it all folds back down out of site, and I stick the tom-tom in the glove box.

I forgot I made this thread. I'm currently using some soft foam and a screwed up duster. :D

... Don't ask.

Sounds like Brodit are the way to go. Cheers fellas, they look good. My only concern is that the Brodit's seem to be for one device only, and I change my phone quite a-lot.

Does that still even happen? You could understand it 10 years ago when satnavs were expensive but these days they cost buttons. Surely no-one still steals them unless you practically invite them to.

People still break into cars if they see a few coins in the cup holder...

Back on-topic:

I'm using a vent-mounted phone holder purchased from:

It says it's for iPhone 4s but it's universal. The sides are adjustable.

Osomount. It is a suction cup based thing but it sticks to the dashboard. Works with a gel ring around the suction cup.

I've tried it in Honda Insight, Civic, Renault Grand Scenic, Ford Fiesta, Vauxhall Corsa and Seat Leon. Never failed to stick to the dash in any of them but it does need a fairly flat surface (slightly rough or textured is OK.). Curved surfaces can defeat it though.

The attachment strength is superb. I'd expect the dash to give way in most cars before you could pull or shake it off (it can be peeled off safely though). Doesn't leave an unsightly ring unless you let it get dirty either.
