Friend has asked me to help him buy a car as he's never bought one before.

His wife is pregnant with their first and his mother has MS so he's after something to kart around a prams and wheelchair. Both he and his wife are 6ft 6. He cares and knows nothing about cars and has an automatic license, his idea of a good car is a Toyota Corolla as he drove one once and it worked. Doesn't want something as big as a Mondeo as "its too large"

Thinking a C Max as it should be reliable, easy to get in and out and has a big boot.

Budget £5-7k

From a practicality perspective, what might be useful is if they take the pram with them when looking at the cars and try and put it in the back. Then mentally add a changing bag and some shopping and see if it all fits.

You often need to take the World and a sink when you have little ones - the pram is just the start.

Car wise, others can better advise. ISOFIX is not a necessity - we managed without it. Leather is better than cloth because it can be just wiped down.

Skoda do sell great family cars - perhaps start there? The model down from the Octavia, whatever that's called?

The missus' Dad went with the grand C-max as he's forever carting all sorts around.
the sliding rear dorrs make getting the little uns in the back a doddle.

Is he against PCP?

Why have they dismissed the Mondeo without testing one? Better car to drive and the boot is huuuge! Wouldn't feel much difference to driving the c max.
Other than that it's gonna have to be a 4x4 of some sort.
