Alternative to Apple power cable

Hi all,

I want to buy a Euro power cable for my power block, like so.

But annoyed at the €25 price tag for just a cable. Before I bite the bullet, has anyone used/tried third party ones without problems? It's just a power cable after all!

I'm pretty sure you could get away with with using a standard "figure 8" cable. They fit my ipad charger atleast.
