Alternative to AVG

I want to change my anti virus software as AGV keep updating and then telling me game .exe files are Viruses. This has happened to my Crysis Beta and today my Fear Combat

So any suggestions?

Perhaps you have a virus?

Never had a problem with AVG.

Avast!

AntiVir I heard is good, but unsure if free.

I've used Avast for years now, It's completely free (you do have to register to get a code and re-register every 12months or so)

It's good too.

NOD32 here too, but its not free.

Avast or AVG is the only free ones i know of.

I used to be an AVG man for years then my system got mashed and inundated with viruses and AVG couldn't solve the problem! (many re-builds etc..), I then found Avast!... Never looked back!

That was 4 Years ago :cool:

I read a virus feature about a month or so ago and AVG Came out above Avast! with AVG scoring 83% Efficiency and Avast! Scoring 73% Efficiency.

But AntVir Scored higher than both AVG and Avast coming out top. After more research AntiVir is free!

Don't you read too much into reviews,its only partly down to what they used for detection at the time ..what you don't know in reviews is what virus detections are dropped,known fact a lot of the old low risk virus detection data are dropped by AV companies ,however they still float around over the net,personally I have used Kaspersky,Bitdefender and Avast and can say they all perfrom very well,however nothing beats using common sense when using your PC,don't rely on AV alone to do the job regardless of which one you have.
